This SOTA peak is the site of a fire lookout tower in Forbes State Forest. I parked at the Pondfield Headquarters parking lot at 1200 Skyline Drive. The parking lot is in the activation zone, but it’s worth the short walk (less than 1000 feet) to see the tower and benchmark. The cabin where the tower watchman would live during fire season is still on the site. Plenty of trees to hang up a wire antenna.
I operated for a good two hours, chasing S2S and other POTA activations. The Quebec Run Wild Area is nearby, and is a good place to camp in the area. There are some park ranger buildings here, but I didn’t see anybody else the entire time.
